Hiring Committee

Re: Communications Manager Position

Dear Hiring Committee,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Communications Manager position at Kinship Community Food Center. With nearly 20 years of communications experience serving faith-based, Catholic, and ministerial organizations, I understand what it means to capture story, produce compelling digital content, and share it with community and stakeholders in a way that moves people to action.

Your mission of engaging volunteers and neighborhood residents to end hunger, isolation, and poverty resonates deeply with me. I have spent my career working alongside organizations that serve communities facing these exact challenges. Through my work with Beulah Family Homestead and Victory Christian Academy School, I supported fundraising and donor engagement efforts contributing to over $500K in gifts through integrated storytelling, donor campaigns, and fundraising communications. I also work intimately with HeartLove Place on their garden initiatives, which feed hundreds of families per year. I understand the landscape Kinship operates in and the power of clear, mission-driven communications.

I would like to propose taking on this role as the day-to-day communications manager, present for the team, events, fundraising initiatives, and mission-aligned work, while donating over 30% of the compensation back to Kinship Cafe as a direct contribution to the mission. The remaining amount, reflected in my resume submission, represents what I believe allows for impactful, dedicated work while giving back meaningfully. There are additional benefits to this approach that I would welcome the opportunity to discuss if we move forward.

My faith-based background and ministerial alignment have shaped how I approach this work. I believe in the servant leader model and have built my practice around amplifying the voices of organizations that serve those most in need. I bring a creative eye rooted in my BFA from UWM, strong digital and storytelling capabilities, and a deep commitment to nonprofit communications.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to Kinship's mission.

Sincerely,

Ryan Rogers
